Vishwanath & Sons Box Office Day 4: Suriya Film Struggles In Tamil Nadu, Reaches Rs. 75.50 Crore

Vishwanath & Sons collected Rs. 8.50 crore on Monday, taking its 4 day total to Rs. 75.50 crore as Tamil Nadu collections dropped sharply after a strong weekend.

Suriya starrer Vishwanath & Sons had an average Monday at the Indian box office, collecting around Rs. 8.50 crore. With this collection, the film’s four day total has reached approximately Rs. 75.50 crore. The movie had a strong opening weekend, particularly in the Telugu states, but its Monday performance has raised concerns about its long term box office run.

The film is currently expected to collect around Rs. 90 crore during its first week if the current trend continues. While the Telugu states have shown a reasonably strong hold, the situation is different in Tamil Nadu, where the collections dropped to a much lower level on Monday.

Vishwanath & Sons collected around Rs. 4 crore in the Telugu states on Monday, while Tamil Nadu contributed approximately Rs. 2.75 crore. A stronger Monday in Tamil Nadu would have given the film a better base for the rest of the week because films generally tend to show more stability in the territory after the opening weekend.

The film’s overall performance is being supported by its business in the Telugu states. Because of this, the final numbers may not be too poor compared with the film’s production costs. However, distributors in some territories, especially Tamil Nadu, could face challenges if the film does not recover during the coming days.

Suriya had earlier delivered a major BLOCKBUSTER in Tamil Nadu with Karuppu, ending a long period without a big success in the territory. However, the early trend of Vishwanath & Sons suggests that the actor could return to the box office levels he was seeing before Karuppu.

The coming weekdays will be important for Vishwanath & Sons. A stable performance could help the film move towards the Rs. 90 crore first week target, while another major drop could make its theatrical run more difficult.
