Batwara 1947 Box Office Day 4: Sunny Deol Film Crashes 75 Per Cent, Heads Towards A Disastrous Week

Batwara 1947 collected Rs. 1.25 crore to Rs. 1.50 crore on Day 4, taking its 4 day total to Rs. 26 crore after a sharp 75 per cent Monday drop.

Sunny Deol starrer Batwara 1947 is struggling at the box office after seeing a major drop in collections on its first Monday. The film collected Rs. 1.25 crore to Rs. 1.50 crore on Day 4, marking a sharp decline of around 75 per cent compared with its opening day. With this collection, the film’s 4 day total has reached Rs. 26 crore nett.

The film had opened with Rs. 5.00 crore on Day 1 before showing better numbers over the weekend. It collected Rs. 12.50 crore on Day 2 and Rs. 6.75 crore on Day 3. However, the steep fall on Monday has raised concerns about its performance during the rest of the opening week.

Batwara 1947 has received a mixed response from audiences, which appears to have affected its box office performance. Based on the current trend, the film is expected to finish its opening week below the Rs. 30 crore mark. For a film featuring Sunny Deol and backed by Aamir Khan Productions, such a total would be considered a weak result.

The film was developed following the huge success of Gadar 2, which brought Sunny Deol back into the spotlight after a long period. Batwara 1947 also uses the Partition as its backdrop and includes elements aimed at a mass audience.

However, the film takes a different approach from the Gadar films. The story focuses on a Pakistani character played by Sunny Deol who tries to protect a Hindu woman and her religion. The subject and treatment are different from the more direct action and patriotic approach seen in the Gadar franchise.

Day 2Rs. 12.50 crore
Day 3Rs. 6.75 crore

With the Monday collection falling sharply, Batwara 1947 now needs a strong recovery during the remaining weekdays to improve its overall box office performance. At the current pace, the film appears to be heading towards a disappointing theatrical run.
