James Van Der Beek’s Ex-Wife Heather McComb Marries Scott Michael Campbell

James Van Der Beek’s ex-wife Heather McComb has married actor Scott Michael Campbell in an intimate Montana ceremony, months after mourning the late Dawson’s Creek star.

James Van Der Beek’s ex-wife Heather McComb has found a new beginning. The actress has married actor Scott Michael Campbell in an intimate outdoor ceremony in Missoula, Montana. McComb announced the news on Instagram, sharing photos from the wedding and calling the day one filled with love, faith and gratitude. According to Page Six, McComb and Campbell tied the knot in a ceremony officiated by her sister. The bride kept things personal and playful, wearing sparkly white cowboy boots with socks that read, “I love my husband.” She later shared that the celebration left her and Campbell feeling deeply blessed.

“Yesterday Scott Michael Campbell and I, under the covenant of God, got officially married by my beautiful sister, surrounded by the people we love most in the world in our most favorite city, Missoula, Montana,” McComb wrote.

Campbell also shared photos from the wedding and called himself “beyond blessed” to marry McComb.

The wedding comes months after the death of McComb’s former husband, James Van Der Beek, who died in February after battling colorectal cancer. He was 48.

McComb and Van Der Beek were married from 2003 to 2010. After their divorce, Van Der Beek went on to marry Kimberly Van Der Beek later in 2010. The couple had six children together: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn and Jeremiah.

Following Van Der Beek’s death, McComb paid an emotional tribute to the Dawson’s Creek star, remembering him as a “beautiful soul” filled with light, love, talent, humor and faith. She also expressed heartbreak for his wife Kimberly, their children and his wider family.

Her remarriage has now become a bittersweet headline. For some fans, the timing may feel emotional because Van Der Beek’s death is still recent. But McComb’s tribute to him made it clear that their bond and shared history remained meaningful long after their marriage ended.

At the same time, her wedding to Campbell marks a new chapter in her own life.

The ceremony appeared simple, heartfelt and rooted in faith, surrounded by close friends and family rather than Hollywood spectacle.

For McComb, it seems to be a moment of gratitude after grief.

A reminder that life can hold loss and love at the same time.
