Lisa Kudrow recently shared that she feels uncomfortable watching her popular sitcom Friends in front of her family. The 62 year old actress said that she prefers to watch the show only when she is alone. She usually waits until her husband, Michel Stern, who is 67 years old, goes to sleep before she watches a few episodes.
She spoke about this during her appearance on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show. When she was asked about the shows she watches, Lisa said, “Friends at night before going to bed. I haven’t seen a lot of episodes. I sit in the family room, and I wait until my husband goes to sleep because I’m too embarrassed for anyone to see me watching it – but I’ll tell all of you”.
The host Gary Davies joked that she was sharing this with listeners but not with her husband. Lisa then clarified, “No, he knows that I like watching it”.
Lisa also explained that she did not watch many episodes when the show was originally airing. At that time, she was busy working on the series. The show followed the lives of six friends living in New York, including her character Phoebe Buffay, along with Rachel Green played by Jennifer Aniston, Ross Geller played by David Schwimmer, Monica Geller played by Courteney Cox, and Chandler Bing played by Matthew Perry.
Talking about that time, she said, “Only the first couple of seasons because we were busy. I don’t think any of us watched every episode. And we were also not hanging out watching the show as it’s being shot. At first, you are. And then you’re just too busy, even during the show”.
Even now, Lisa enjoys watching the show and finds it funny. She said, “Hilarious. I say her when it’s me. If my husband comes in to get something, he’s like, ‘Oh, you’re watching your show. OK’. Then he watches a little. It’s funny”.
She also shared that she has recently reached the season eight finale, where two characters welcome their daughter. The show originally aired from 1994 to 2004 and had 236 episodes.
Looking back, Lisa said she feels proud to have been part of the show. When asked about her experience, she said, “Oh, yeah! But I was then. I mean, yes, I was cautiously optimistic, I was trying to be realistic. But once it was clear that it was working, and we were probably going to be on for a while, it was so fast, it was right after that very first season. And yes, we were all really grateful. We were pretty good, I have to say, in terms of attitude”.
She added, “We were all really grateful. We worked really hard on our relationship, too, because we all felt like, ‘This translates to, so let’s be good together’. It was just great. Everything about it, I have to say
