Mickey 17″, directed by Bong Joon Ho, marks the highly anticipated return of the Oscar-winning filmmaker after his historic success with Parasite. This new sci-fi film, based on Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7 stars Robert Pattinson as Mickey Barnes, an “Expendable” worker on a mission to colonize the icy planet Niflheim. As an expendable, Mickey can be replaced with a new clone every time he dies until things take a strange turn when he encounters another version of himself.
The trailer, released by Warner Bros., showcases a mix of dark humor and existential sci-fi, with Pattinson’s character reflecting on his struggles to escape Earth and grappling with the bizarre implications of meeting his own duplicate. His character’s quirky accent and personality, alongside an impressive cast including Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo, further amplify the intrigue.
