Steven Spielberg has signed on to produce a new high-concept science fiction feature from filmmaking duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the writers behind the original concept and screenplay for A Quiet Place. The project will be developed through Spielberg’s Amblin banner alongside Universal Pictures, with Beck and Woods attached to write and direct.
While story details are being kept under wraps, industry reports describe the film as an original high-concept sci-fi project conceived by Beck and Woods. The duo reportedly sold the spec script in a competitive situation, with Spielberg subsequently coming aboard as producer.
Beck and Woods first broke into the mainstream with A Quiet Place, the 2018 blockbuster built from their original story and screenplay. The film became a global hit and launched a successful franchise for Paramount Pictures.
Since then, the filmmakers have continued to build a reputation for original genre storytelling with projects including the sci-fi thriller 65 starring Adam Driver and the critically acclaimed horror film Heretic.
