The rapper, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was arrested after a fight broke out between him and his bodyguard at the George V luxury hotel. Paris police were called to the scene around 5 a.m. (11 p.m. ET on Thursday), where they arrested Scott on charges of “violence against another person,” according to a police spokesperson.
The Paris prosecutor’s office later confirmed that Scott was specifically arrested for “violence against a security guard.” The altercation reportedly began between Scott and his bodyguard, with the security guard intervening in an attempt to break up the fight. His arrest comes shortly after he wrapped up the European leg of his Circus Maximus tour, which included performances at major venues across North America and Europe, such as Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium in London.
The rapper, who has been nominated for 10 Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album for his 2023 release Utopia, is no stranger to controversy. He has had previous run-ins with the law, including an arrest in Miami in June on charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication. Additionally, Scott is widely known for his intense live performances, which have occasionally led to dangerous situations.
