On Saturday, American rapper Wiz Khalifa was arrested for drug abuse during his performance at the Beach Please! Festival in Romania. Khalifa, known for his hit song “Black and Yellow,” was seen smoking marijuana on stage, which led to his arrest by Romanian authorities. The incident was captured on social media, showing Khalifa being taken into custody.
Following his arrest, the Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors DIICOT issued a press release detailing the events. They confirmed that Khalifa was in possession of over 18 grams of cannabis and had consumed some of it in the form of a craft cigarette during his performance. The press release emphasized that Khalifa, like all individuals under investigation, is entitled to procedural rights and the presumption of innocence as per the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Marijuana use is illegal in Romania for recreational purposes. Despite the arrest, Khalifa was later released from custody. In response, he issued a public apology on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a** j***t next time.”
