Chef Vikas Khanna has shared an emotional note on Instagram after Hollywood actor Anne Hathaway visited his restaurant, Bungalow, in New York. The celebrated chef opened up about how the encounter stirred deep memories connected to his late sister, Radhika, who passed away in 2022 due to multiple organ failure after battling Lupus for years.

Vikas shared a photo with Anne Hathaway and other guests outside his restaurant. He also added a touching personal touch by photoshopping a picture of his sister into the image. Reflecting on the emotional significance of the moment, Vikas recalled how Anne’s iconic film The Devil Wears Prada served as a source of comfort and joy for Radhika during her hospital stays. The film, along with Sex and the City, was a constant companion for the siblings as they sat by her hospital bed, providing moments of laughter during a difficult time.
Vikas wrote, “She absolutely loved @annehathaway and knew every single line from The Devil Wears Prada by heart. Reciting those dialogues brought her so much joy her happiest moments during those times. Somehow, I learned them all by heart too. Watching her laugh was the best painkiller.”. He added that after her passing, he deleted the files as the memories became too painful to revisit. However, Anne’s visit to his restaurant brought those moments flooding back, making him emotional yet grateful.
The chef concluded the note by expressing his gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Anne, for giving her those moments of happiness when we’d laugh and say, ‘Everybody wants to be us.’ I photoshopped my Radha into the photo, right next to her hero. I know she was there with us tonight.”
Set in New York, Bungalow opened in March 2024 has quickly become a favorite dining spot. Besides Anne Hathaway, the restaurant has also hosted notable personalities, including Priyanka Chopra and her husband, Nick Jonas. Priyanka recently visited the restaurant with friends and shared her experience on social media, praising Vikas Khanna for offering her a taste of home.
