Rosé of BLACKPINK makes waves as her music releases and recognition roll on. Following the success of APT, her collab with Bruno Mars bagging all firsts at the 2024 MAMA Awards, she releases a new single, Number One Girl, in anticipation of her album launching on December 6. This comes along as an emotional turn, reminiscent of her song Gone from 2021. Fans have constantly bombarded the song with positive comments, but the highlight has been a heartfelt comment from fellow BLACKPINK member Jisoo.
The release was announced through Instagram as Rosé posted a part of the song with the caption, “Number one girl is out now. This one is for every girl (and boy) who dreams to be somebody’s number one.” Love and support began pouring in from the fans in the comments, but it was Jisoo’s touching response which read: “You will always be my number one,” that really won hearts as the unbreakable bond between the BLACKPINK members showed despite them not doing much for a while.

Rosé opens up about the inspiration behind the album “Number One Girl” in an interview with Billboard. She said, “We wrote that song the day after I went to this event. I felt grateful to be there, but I didn’t feel fulfilled. I was chasing something, but I don’t even know what it was.”. So empty, she confessed. That night, she couldn’t get negative comments on social media out of her mind, saying with a shake of her head, “I was so obsessed with these people who didn’t know me and weren’t nice to me.” The experience was big enough to inspire a track that speaks to resilience and self-worth.
Meanwhile, fan followers are patiently waiting for the release date of BLACKPINK. The group will reunite by 2026. The members have been outstanding solo artists in the meantime. Lisa and Jennie will be performing at Coachella in 2025.
