After months of speculation, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has confirmed she will be featured with One Direction alumnus Zayn Malik. The track, Eyes Closed, had been previously registered in months, and fans were eagerly speculating the collaboration. While initial rumors hinted that Zayn would be collaborating with fellow BLACKPINK member Rosé, it is now revealed that Jisoo features alongside the British artist on the tear-jerking duet.
Released on October 10, Eyes Closed brings the individual musical tastes of both artists together, guaranteeing a sound that cannot be found elsewhere. A preview shared on their social media accounts provides us with an idea about the chorus section of the song, which has the following lines:
“Said, oh, we should fall in love with our eyes closed,
Better if we keep it where we don’t know,
The nights that we’ve spent, the faces and names of the individuals we shared them with…
The past will not hurt us if we do not look,
Let’s let it go,
Better if we fall in love with our eyes closed.
To accompany the audio clip, Jisoo also posted a dramatic new photo that features her in the foreground, Zayn in the background, leaning slightly over her shoulder—a visual enticement regarding the intimacy and secrecy of the song.
Although a music video announcement has not been made, fans do expect some visual content to accompany the drop of the song.
Adding to the excitement, Zayn and his daughter Khai attended BLACKPINK’s DEADLINE World Tour in the U.S. as Jisoo’s guests, yet another voltage to fan excitement over their joint production.
