Baby John Box Office Disaster! Varun Dhawan’s movie falls flat on New Year’s Eve, adds only Rs 2 crore

The mass action drama Baby John,  starring Varun Dhawan, failed to impress audiences and lags behind at the box office. Although the star cast seemed promising with an interesting story, the movie was never able to generate the necessary buzz, even on New Year’s Eve as it entered the last week of 2024.

After opening on December 25 to Rs 10.75 crore, Baby John added Rs 27 crore, extending its five-day weekend. However, Monday onwards, the collections started failing from day one and fell sharply from Friday. Sources reported that Baby John’s earnings for December 31 stood at only Rs 2 crores, bringing the total Indian net collection to Rs 31 crore. The film is likely to end up one of the few disastrous films of the year, with an expected lifetime net collection of Rs 40 crore only in India, while the global gross may reach Rs 70-75 crore.
India Net Collections Day-Wise:

Day 1: Rs 10.75 crore
Day 2: Rs 4.25 crore
Day 3:Rs 3.25 crore
Day 4: Rs 4.25 crore
Day 5: Rs 4.50 crore
Day 6: Rs 2 crore
Day 7: Rs 2 crore
Total: Rs 31 crore

Baby John is very much about Inspector Satya Verma aka Baby John (Varun Dhawan), who lives peacefully in Kerala with his daughter Khushi (Zara Zyanna).

Yet his dark past as an inspector was revealed by Khushi’s teacher (Wamiqa Gabbi). The plot takes the viewers back six years where Satya was embroiled in a battle against criminal Babar Sher (Jackie Shroff) and vowed vengeance for his wife, Meera (Keerthy Suresh). Except for its relevant social story, the remake tag on this film with halfhearted execution left most disappointed and Baby John as one of the year’s duds.
