Varun Dhawan’s Baby John has seen a dip in its box office numbers, collecting ₹1.85 crore on Day 6 (Monday). The film’s total domestic collection now stands at ₹30.50 crore, according to Sacnilk. Released on December 25, Baby John, directed by Kalees, opened with ₹11.25 crore—a performance trade analysts found underwhelming.

Trade expert Taran Adarsh attributed the lackluster opening to stiff competition from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 in mass markets and Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King in urban centers. Sharing a poster of the film, Taran Adarsh commented, “Baby John faced stiff competition from Pushpa 2 and Mufasa, which impacted its opening day biz… Midweek releases aligned with a major holiday usually guarantee strong openings, but Baby John must sustain its momentum through the weekend to achieve a respectable extended-weekend total.”

Despite these challenges, Varun Dhawan impressed audiences with his dedication to action-packed sequences. In an interview with News18,  he revealed that he performed most of the stunts himself. “The scale of action in this film is massive, and I’ve personally performed nearly all the stunts with minimal use of a body double,” he said. He also shared that he was suspended upside down for over six hours during one stunt, proving his “endurance like never before.”

Baby John is produced by Atlee’s A for Apple Studios, Cine1 Studios, Jio Studios, and Vipin Agnihotri Films. However, the film faces an uphill battle at the box office as Pushpa 2 continues to dominate mass circuits, and Mufasa attracts family audiences. For Baby John to gain momentum, strong word-of-mouth and weekday stability will be crucial in the coming days.
