The Lion King is performing well at the international box office, and India is contributing to it. While Sonic The Hedgehog 3 rides high on popularity in North America, Mufasa too does quite well – with lifetime box office collections crossing ₹125 crores from India.
The Lion King prequel would end by making ₹63 crores in its opening week. In its second weekend, it added ₹28.5 crores to its collection. Day 11 was the second Monday, and the film added almost ₹5.25 crores, which would take the total collection in India to around ₹92.75 crores. Experts say it is likely that on the 13th day, which happens to be the New Year’s Day, the film would cross the 100-crore mark. Hence will help a lot in cashing the box office.

This was quite moody with the voice performances: Shah Rukh Khan in the Hindi version loved it, and for the South, Mahesh Babu did it. Overall, it has worked very well in the Indian market. The film has increased in some ways through time; ₹14.5 occurred on its third day; all of that backing up a strong second weekend. Breakdowns of collections: Day 1 – ₹7 crore; Day 2 – ₹11 crore; Day 3 – ₹14.5 crore; Day 4 – ₹5.5 crore; Day 5 – ₹7.5 crore; Day 6 – ₹11 crore; Day 7 – ₹6.5 crore; Day 8 – ₹6 crore; Day 9 – ₹9.5 crore; Day 10 – ₹9 crore; and Day 11 – ₹5.25 crore.
This is definitely going to cross the ₹100 crores mark in India. And this one will do really well from New Year holidays too.
