Actor Ali Fazal is set to explore a softer, romantic space once again with Netflix’s upcoming anthology Lust Stories 3. Known for his gritty portrayal of Guddu Bhaiya in Mirzapur, Fazal will be seen embracing a lover-boy persona in the latest installment of the franchise, where he stars opposite Radhika Madan in a segment directed by filmmaker Shakun Batra.
The project continues Fazal’s recent shift toward emotionally layered characters. He was last seen in Metro… In Dino, where he played a gentle, introspective musician navigating love and vulnerability. With Lust Stories 3, the actor moves further into contemporary relationship storytelling, with Batra’s segment focusing on intimacy, emotional honesty and modern dynamics of love and desire.
Speaking about the project, Fazal said, “Lust Stories 3 came to me at a time when I was craving something emotionally honest and personal. Shakun has such a rare way of observing human behaviour, he doesn’t direct scenes, he lets them breathe. Working with him was incredibly fulfilling because he pushes you to be truthful rather than dramatic. This story explores love, desire, and vulnerability in a very real way, and I genuinely enjoyed slipping back into a romantic space after a long time.”
The actor added that the role allowed him to revisit romance from a contemporary lens. “There’s something freeing about playing a lover boy again, but in today’s context flawed, sensitive, and emotionally aware. I think audiences will see a very different, softer side of me, and that’s what excites me the most about Lust Stories 3.”
Part of Netflix’s Lust Stories anthology franchise, the third installment continues the platform’s exploration of modern relationships through multiple filmmaker-led segments. Fazal’s appearance in the anthology adds another dimension to his evolving filmography as he balances mainstream streaming projects with character-driven narratives.
