Actor Akanksha Chamola has spoken openly about her personal life on Lock Upp 2, confirming that she and her husband, Gaurav Khanna, are getting divorced. She revealed that the two have been living separately for the past year and that the decision to end their marriage was mutual. The announcement surprised many fans, as the couple had continued to appear together at public events and on social media over the past year.
In the second episode of the show, Akanksha was seen talking to Shreya Kalra when Harshad Chopda joined them for a light hearted conversation. After Harshad left, Shreya asked Akanksha if she was ready to fall in love again following her separation from Gaurav. Responding honestly, Akanksha said, “I don’t know, but not at the moment. Yeah! I want to enjoy my freedom. See, I got married when I was very young. At 24, I had tied the knot. I haven’t explored that much. So, after 10 years of being in a good relationship, I now have time to explore and have that kind of freedom. Hence, I don’t want to get into something else.”
During the premiere episode of Lock Upp 2, hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan, Akanksha shared more details about the separation. She said, “Gaurav and I are getting a divorce. Yes, we have been separated, and living separately for the last year. It has not been made public. It was a mutual decision. We have been sitting on it for the last year. Things are not bad between Gaurav and me. We still talk to each other. We both don’t think that we are compatible as partners because we both see a very different future, and unfortunately, it’s not with each other.”
She also explained that both of them tried to save the relationship before deciding to separate. According to Akanksha, there is no bitterness between them. She said their families hoped that spending some time apart might help improve the relationship, but over time they realised they no longer felt like a married couple. Even though they continued to support each other publicly, they believed it was better to move forward separately.
Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha Chamola got married in 2016 after dating for some time and were considered one of television’s popular couples. Akanksha had also appeared during the family week of Bigg Boss 19 in November 2025, where the couple shared affectionate moments on screen. They were also seen celebrating Akanksha’s birthday together in January 2026. However, Akanksha has now confirmed that they have been living separately for the past year and are ending their marriage through a mutual decision.
