Netflix has announced that Season 2 of “Squid Game” will premiere on December 26, 2024, with a final season set for 2025. This news was shared by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the executive producer, writer, and director, through a heartfelt letter. Three years after his victory, Player 456, Gi-hun, uses his fortune to track down the game’s organizers, starting with the man in the sharp suit playing ddakji. His mission to end the game, however, proves more dangerous than anticipated, leading him back into the game.
Hwang, who made history at the 74th Primetime Emmys, returns as director, writer, and producer. The main cast, including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo, will return, joined by new cast members such as Yim Si-wan and Kang Ha-neul.
Hwang’s note reflects on the surreal experience of returning to the world of “Squid Game” and hints at the fierce clash between Gi-hun and the Front Man. He expressed excitement for the upcoming seasons and gratitude to fans, promising another thrilling ride.
