Get ready to dive back into the quirky and thrilling world of Only Murders in the Building as Season 4 returns to Disney+ Hotstar on August 27th. This Primetime Emmy® Award-nominated series brings together Teen Choice Award winner Selena Gomez, Tony Award winner Martin Short, and honorary Oscar winner Steve Martin. The show mixes true crime with comedy, keeping us all entertained with its unique blend of mystery and humour. Set in a pre-war Upper West Side apartment building in New York, the Arconia, the series unravels unexpected murders and delightful sleuthing. As you gear up for the new season, let’s recap the highlights and major twists from the previous seasons, ensuring you’re ready for the next chapter.

Season 1:

Only Murders in the Building follows an unlikely trio—former TV star Charles Haden-Savage, washed-up theatre producer Oliver Putnam, and young artist Mabel—who bond over their love for true crime podcasts. When their neighbour Tim Kono is murdered, they team up to create their own podcast and investigate the crime. As they dig deeper, they uncover hidden secrets within their upscale Upper West Side apartment building, confront multiple suspects, and navigate unexpected twists, including Mabel’s past connection with Tim and a resident’s involvement in the murder. The season ends with a shocking cliffhanger, leaving viewers eager for the next chapter.

Season 2:

Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building sees the trio embroiled in the murder of Bunny Folger, the Arconia’s landlady. Mabel discovers Bunny’s body in her apartment, making her a prime suspect. The plot thickens as the trio unearths Bunny’s secrets, including a valuable painting and her pet parrot, Mrs. Gambolini. NYPD detective Kreps, revealed as Glitter Guy, provides leads that link him to Cinda Canning’s true crime podcast. Mabel suspects Cinda of framing her, and the trio orchestrates a killer reveal party, ultimately exposing Poppy White, Cinda’s assistant, as Bunny’s murderer. The season ends with a cliffhanger as Oliver’s play star, Ben Glenroy, collapses on stage, setting the stage for Season 3.

Season 3:

In Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building, Oliver’s Broadway show faces cancellation after the lead actor, Ben, dies. To save it, Oliver and Howard propose turning it into a musical, but producer Donna is hesitant due to costs, giving Oliver three days to convince her. Meanwhile, Charles and Mabel investigate Ben’s murder, suspecting poisoning and strangulation, and believe the killer lost a handkerchief. Oliver announces the musical with Loretta as the star, causing discontent among the cast and a disastrous first rehearsal. Mabel, investigating Ben’s apartment, teams up with cameraman Tobert and discovers footage of Ben arguing with someone on the night of his death. Amidst cast criticism, Oliver insists Loretta stay, and with her help, impresses the producers, securing the show’s continuation. Charles grows suspicious of Kimber when she reveals she lost her handkerchief.
