The concluding part of ‘The Freelancer’ based on Shirish Thorat’s book ‘A Ticket to Syria‘ is worth the wait. If the first was to establish the extremist threat and its consequences, the conclusion is ‘extraction with a game plan’. It is not just about the gun battle but more of creating the environment of the hostage / victim and her saviour.
Aleeya Khan (Kashmira Pardeshi), daughter of Avinash Kamath’s (Mohit Raina) friend Inayat Khan (Sushant Singh), gets married to Mohsin Fazal (Navneet Malik). Soon the new bride finds herself in a situation in a conflict-ridden land set in an hostile environment set apart by misdirection and treachery. Aleeya endeavours to escape from the challenging conditions of Syria it sets in motion a web of deception, courage and tragedy.
On the other hand is Avinash Kamath, who is already on the extraction mission, sets out on its last leg; his final journey to extract Aleeya, from the war torn Syria. From building the team to strategizing and planning the entire rescue with Dr. Arif Ajmaal Khan (Anupam Kher), he does it all.
This time around Dr. Khan, who is the backbone of Avinash’s mission, is seen in an extremely pivotal role. Though confined to a library, his influence on the mission and the audience is extensive. Neeraj Pandey seems to present Anupam Kher with a very distinctive persona. One seems to get drawn into the plan with every frame and dialogue of Dr. Khan giving a very fulfilling feeling.
Mohit Raina as Avinash Kamath delivers some fine drama and emotional scenes along with high octane action stunts during his rescue mission. Mohit Raina’s first attempt at something like this seems rewarding. The audiences should thoroughly enjoy this nail biting extraction mission. Crafted to perfection, the action sequences are sure to leave the audiences with an exhilarating and a thrilling experience.
What I like most about a Neeraj Pandey thriller is that he involves the audience with his strategy building screenplay and dialogues. The characters communicate their plan as though the audience is party to it. His story telling makes revelations that proves unique & informative and one wonders how we were unaware until then.
The creator and showrunner, Neeraj Paney, has time and again given the audience unparalleled and captivating thrillers with his films / series like A Wednesday, Special 26, Baby, Rustom, Naam Shabana, Aiyaary, Special OPS to Khakee, all fall in the same category and have equal dose of entertainment.
The Freelancer: The Conclusion brings to the audiences a perfect edge-of-the-seat climax with equal amount of thrill and drama. The viewers are surely in for a gripping story and a meticulously crafted thriller that promises to leave a lasting impact.
