Abhay Deol opens up on ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA sequel

0

The fans haven’t forgotten Abhay Deol’s performance in ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA as no matter what he keeps doing the questions about the film keep finding him. He essayed the role of Kabir Dewan, an architect who just wants to go on a last bachelor road trip with his school buddies and unwind but fate has other plans.

Abhay Deol, who played one of the prominent roles in ZNMD aprat from Hrithik Roshan & Farhan Akhtar, was asked recently at the trailer launch for his upcoming film NANU KI JAANU about a possible sequel for the 2011 hit ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA to which he said, "Talks have been there since the last film released. I hope that Zoya will make sequel of it. Hrithik tells her that, Farhan is also happy about it and even I tell her that, but Zoya obviously has to get free and have a story that she wants to tell. From our side, you can be sure. We all are ready to do the film, but now Zoya has to say that 'Yes, I have the mood to write something for it'."

Abhay Deol, Farkhan Akhtar and Hrihtik Roshan make a great combo as it was evident in the film and fans have been waiting with bated breath to see where their story further progresses.

ZNMD was about three friends, Arjun (Hrithik Roshan), Kabir (Abhay Deol), and Imraan (Farhan Akhtar) who have been inseparable since childhood. They set off to Spain on a bachelor trip and meet Laila (Katrina Kaif), who falls in love with Arjun and helps him overcome his problem of workaholism. Kabir and his fiancée experience significant misunderstanding in the meanwhile, which they soon overcome. As part of the trip, each friend chooses a dangerous sport for the group to partake. On the day of the event, the trio make a a pact to make a promise if they survive. As they complete the event, the friends gain a renewed sense of their relationships with each other, with others they know, and with themselves.

The film showed a different aspect to how we perceive life and relationships. With the help of the three friends, it reaches out to say that you as a person are bigger than your work and it’s alright to distance yourself from it and set yourself free of all the boundaries.

It remains to be seen when does Zoya takes forward the sequel and yet again gives us a beautiful story. Till then watch this space for more.

Boman Irani: Actors need to be socially responsible

0

In a nation where Bollywood and cricket are the biggest entertainment avenues for the common man, actors carry the onus of being socially responsible, says Boman Irani, known for exhilarating performances in films like MUNNA BHAI MBBS and 3 IDIOTS, among others.

The 58-year-old actor, who entered Hindi films after he turned 40 — as an outsider, from English theatre — but successfully cast a spell of joy on Indian audiences by crafting such memorable characters as Dr. Asthana (in MUNNA BHAI…) and Prof Viru Sahastrabuddhe ("3 Idiots"), believes that it is important to be happy and make people smile.

"Some people may find the films that I do senseless cinema; but I am okay with it as long as people have a good laugh and they get their money's worth," the JOLLY LLB actor, who continues to adhere to the "theatre discipline" of rehearsal to endow credibility to the roles he essays, told IANS.

Boman is now looking forward to the release of JHALKI — in which he plays the Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi — which takes a deep plunge into the socially relevant issues of child labour and exploitation.

So moved was the KHOSLA KA GHOSLA actor by the subject that he said yes to the role in a matter of 10 minutes — unusual for someone who generally does not rush into the roles he is offered.

"When it came to this particular film, I truly felt that child labour is an issue that we do not address strongly. So I agreed to do the film in a matter of 10 minutes," said the actor who has plays like 'Family Ties', 'Mahatma vs Gandhi' and 'I Am Not Bajirao' to his credit.

"This film gave me an opportunity to talk about Satyarthi. I agreed to do it because we have to honour crusaders like him," he added.

Boman, who has also dabbled with regional language films, especially Marathi and Telugu, feels that actors need to be responsible not only in choosing roles for films and plays, but also in endorsing brands.

"I think whether you are doing a play, movie or an ad film — you are eventually playing a character. Even though it is for 40 seconds or a minute, the character remains on screen — and if you are selling a product, there has to be a certain amount of commitment to it," said Boman, who appears in two ads for P Mark Mustard Oil — both directed by his son Kayoze Boman Irani.

"When you are preparing for an ad film, it is important to know what the company stands for… When I was doing ads for P Mark Mustard Oil, I had the opportunity meet Vivek Puri, owner of Puri Oil Mills Ltd., and understand the history of the company… the pains that are taken in preparing the product, the ethos of the company," said Boman, who has a preference for home-cooked food.

Emphasising on the importance of good edible oil, he said: "I am a confirmed foodie. Off late, I have been happier eating home-cooked food simply because it brings the family together at one table."

"The main reason why I (prefer to) have my meals at home is because of the quality of the food. My wife's cooking is superlative," said Boman, who also believes in sharing household responsibilities equally with his spouse Zenobia Irani.

As advice to newcomers and outsiders like him who want to make it big in Bollywood, Boman said that they should focus on their work instead of getting into the various camps of the industry.

"I get along with everyone very well. I don't take sides. I do not talk about anything except work. And after work, I talk about fun, life and enjoyment… nothing else," he added.

Actor Sonu Sood has come on board for Rohit Shetty's upcoming entertainer SIMMBA. He says the challenging role will make him do a lot of homework.

The announcement about Sonu's entry into the SIMMBA cast comes after R. Madhavan made it clear that he can't be a part of the movie due to his shoulder injury. Sonu will join Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the movie.

Inspired by the works of Manto ASCHARYA F#*K IT trailer is hard-hitting & not for faint-hearted!

"If you find my stories dirty, the society you are living in is dirty. With my stories, I only expose the truth” this is what famous writer, playwright & author Saadat Hasan Manto often used to express in his writings and we are introduced with the same disclaimer in the trailer of upcoming feature film ASCHARYA F#*K IT as well, which fairly gives an idea about, ASCHARYA F#*K IT, being inspired by the works of Saadat Hasan Manto who had sincerely brought out stories of prostitutes and pimps alike, just as he highlighted the subversive sexual slavery of the women of his times. The trailer is laden with explicit content, strong (bold) language, suggestive (read vulgar) scenes, society taboos, etc and it is certainly not for faint-hearted…

While we have witnessed umpteen dark genres, noir films but the high decibel trailer of ASCHARYA …with no-holds-barred approach surpasses in all aspects and it is utterly shocking, hard-hitting and disturbing as it is not a heightened version that is depicted in other films, but a more true version of the city as claimed by the director Samit Kakkad.

The story is about how desire and greed intertwine the lives of a Bollywood star, his chauffeur, a prostitute and her pimp in an unlikely love story. The trailer begins with a sex worker Kanta played by Priyanka Bose, who unabashedly dragging on her beedi, lists out four sexual parts of a woman’s body. “What else will a prostitute talk about?” she asks, looking into the camera.

A bottle of champagne pops up and the director introduces the several characters in Kanta’s life, her pimp, a film star, and a taxi driver.

Starring Priyanka Bose, Santosh Juvekar, Ankit Raaj, Vaibhav Raaj Gupta, the movie will be released digitally through Yoodlee Films, the production division of the music company Saregama.
