Jacqueline Fernandez: Fitness, fashion are fun-filled journeys

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who has launched her brand Just F, says fitness and fashion are fun-filled journeys rather than destinations.

"I have always believed that fitness and fashion are not destinations, but fun-filled journeys. They are, to me, a way of living, and as such I want my active-wear to reflect my personality and complement my lifestyle," Jacqueline said in a statement.

"Launching Just F, a feminine take on fitness from my perspective, is a big moment for me. I am confident that the brand will meet and exceed the expectations of young women across India, who want to fulfil their fitness requirements without breaking the bank or compromising on style," she added.

Jacqueline has collaborated with Mojostar, which is founded by Anirban Blah and Jiggy George, for Just F — a female-only fitness and fashion brand.

"Active-wear trends in India are still heavily dominated by the needs of male consumers. Brands in this space still have a primary share from male consumers, leaving gaps in the offering for young Indian women. Just F is our way of giving female consumers, products which cater to their needs and sensibilities," said Abhishek Verma, CEO, Mojostar.

"Inputs and insights from Jacqueline, who is not only a leading Bollywood star but also a style icon and a very vocal promoter of wellness and healthy living, have played a big role in defining the brand identity and product design," he added.

Tiger Shroff to lead the class of STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2

In 2012, the film STUDENT OF THE YEAR gave the Bollywood industry three new actors who have carved a niche and established themselves firmly in Bollywood. Fast forward six years and Karan Johar has announced a sequel for the film with a new cast starring Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.

The first film was well received by the audiences and it has reached a cult status among fans and the coming of age story. The sequel will now launch Ananya and Tara as Tiger has already achieved success in Bollywood.

The poster revealed by Karan Johar shows a chalked out locker room of a school with Tiger Shroff kicking about in the middle.

Although not much is revealed about the plot of the film, the film is written and directed by Punit Malhotra.

Produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta, the film is scheduled to release on 23rd November 2018.

Veteran actor Manoj Kumar, nicknamed Bharat Kumar, is very happy to see of two of today's superstars — Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan — carrying forward the work that he started 45 years ago.

While Akshay is doing what Manoj, now 81, describes as the kind of cinema he believes in — cinema that changes society, Salman is doing a film called BHARAT, the character that Manoj patented by playing the hero of that name in the 1970s' classics UPKAR, PURAB AUR PASCHIM and ROTI KAPDA AUR MAKAAN.

The veteran actor shrugs off the compliments.

"It's not as if I had any copyright claims over the name Bharat. Anyone and everyone is Bharat. I am happy that superstars like Salman and Akshay are playing heroes who can bring about a social awakening, a new dawn, naya Bharat," Manoj said.

In fact, in the late 1970s, Manoj wanted to make a film titled NAYA BHARAT featuring him with Rajesh Khanna.

Today, he feels NAYA BHARAT can be made with Salman and Akshay.

"If you are sincere to your work, and if you are sincere in your desire to bring about change in society, the audience will embrace your efforts. I see an honesty in Salman and Akshay's work that cannot go unrewarded," said the veteran, who wants to direct another film soon.

"I want to die with my chappals on. I plan to get back to direction at the earliest," he said.

Marathi filmmaker Samit Kakkad is set to make his Bollywood directorial debut with a film titled "AscharyaFuckIt", inspired by the writings of the late revered writer Saadat Hasan Manto.
 
The film revolves around an unlikely love story where desire and greed intertwines the lives of a Bollywood star, his chauffeur, a prostitute and her pimp, read a statement.
 
"I wanted to bring Manto's complex characters to life on 70 mm but also wanted to tell a story that will keep contemporary audiences engaged. At the heart of it, 'AscharyaFuckIt' is an unconventional love story and it is the idea of love that ultimately binds everything in the film," Kakkad said.
 
He has attempted to add a contemporary touch to Manto's characters.
 
"Manto wrote about characters on the fringes of society and captured their world and their voice. The hope was to retain the spirit of Manto while updating it for the audience of today. 'AscharyaFuckIt' is in essence about worlds colliding. The film is about the Mumbai of today. It is not a heightened version that is depicted in other films, but a more 'truer' version of the city," added Kakkad, who has earlier directed Marathi films "Aayna Ka Bayna" and "Half Ticket".
 
His maiden Bollywood project's cast includes Priyanka Bose, Santosh Juvekar, Ankit Raaj and Vaibhav Raaj Gupta among others.

Why director Abhinay Deo feels BLACKMAIL was a gamble?

Director Abhinay Deo says his new film BLACKMAIL was a gamble because the Indian audience is used to being served up only a certain kind of comedy, and he was attempting something different.

BLACKMAIL could be called the funniest film of the year. With its tongue firmly in its cheek, the plot takes viewers on a roller-coaster ride that involves an unfaithful wife (read anti-heroine), a blackmailing husband (read anti-hero), a henpecked toy boy, his domineering wealthy sluttish wife, an office going go-getting woman who will stop at nothing to extort money from her senior, a boss who is obsessed with stopping the water supply in Mumbai so he can promote his brand of toilet paper and a bewigged detective who refers to himself throughout the film in the third person.

These are only some of the wacked out characters in BLACKMAIL, plus of course, a hero who likes to visit the office toilet with pictures of other people's wives stolen from their desks.

Laughing away at that, Deo said: "It was a gamble. Nobody would think of putting money into something so outlandish and outrageous. But my producers did, knowing fully well that this kind of comedy does not necessarily appeal to the audience that favours the more conventional comedies."

"The audience is habituated to being spoon-fed a certain kind of comedy. It is those comedies that make the big bucks at the box office. My biggest victory as far as 'Blackmail' is concerned is when my humour is seen to carry forward the tradition of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's cinema," added Deo, whose parents veteran actors Ramesh Deo and Seema Deo are remembered for their presence in Mukherjee's ANAND.

With Irrfan Khan starrer BLACKMAIL, Deo's most triumphant moment so far was at censor board.

"The entire panel said they were thoroughly entertained by the film. They sent me off with ‘UA' certificate and lots of encouraging laughter. And mind you, the film's theme is adultery, and sex forms a very important part of the plot. But yes, there is no profanity."

He recounted with a shudder the ordeal that his DELHI BELLY went through. Even after being cleared by the censor board, there were endless debates and discussions on the verbal excesses of the dialogues.

"Here we were not given any opportunity to feel victimised. There is a sense of vindication about being able to tell my story the way I want to," said Abhinay as he wonders at the laughter challenge ahead.

Arijit Singh playbacks for 102 year old Big B

Director Umesh Shukla says singer Arijit Singh was an apt choice to playback for megastar Amitabh Bachchan in a song for 102 NOT OUT.

Arijit has sung the song 'Bachche ki jaan loge kya', which has been picturised on the actor. The fun and peppy number also showcases the relationship between the father-son duo played by Big B and actor Rishi Kapoor.

"Arijit's voice was apt for the song and the situation. And it was fitting with Mr. Bachchan's character in the film who believes in living life to the fullest," Shukla said in a statement to IANS.

102 NOT OUT will portray the relationship between the 102-year-old father and his 75-year-old son on the silver screen.

It is produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment Films India, Treetop Entertainment and Shukla's Benchmark Pictures. The film is slated to release worldwide on May 4.

The film is about a centenarian who wants to break the world record of being the oldest man alive, which is held by a 118-year-old Chinese man. He plans to do it by putting his son in an old age home.
