The makers of Dhanush’s upcoming film OM have released the first teaser, titled OM First Strike, giving audiences an early look at the film’s setting, characters, and central conflict. The teaser suggests that the movie will be an intense action drama set in a region affected by violence, tension, and rebellion.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, who previously received praise for Amaran, the film features a strong cast that includes Dhanush, Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, and Sreeleela. Music for the film has been composed by Sai Abhyankkar. OM is scheduled to release in theatres on October 16, 2026.
The teaser begins with scenic visuals of mountains, forests, and a temple town, creating a calm atmosphere before shifting to a more serious tone. The story then moves into a rain soaked forest where a group of frightened villagers finds itself surrounded by armed security personnel. As the situation becomes more tense, viewers are shown signs of violence in the area, including a blood stained axe embedded in a freshly cut tree stump.
As fear spreads among the villagers, they begin chanting “Anna Malaiyarku!” together. The chant changes the mood of the scene, turning fear into resistance and unity. The moment hints at a larger struggle taking place within the story.
Dhanush makes his first appearance amid rain and mist. His character is shown confronting armed officers in several action sequences. The teaser features intense hand to hand combat scenes in which he takes on multiple opponents, disarms them, and fights back against overwhelming forces. In one of the key moments, he is seen carrying an assault rifle before facing the remaining officers.
The teaser ends with Dhanush lifting a massive weapon above his head before the film’s title appears on screen. The makers also reveal that the story will begin with Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood. This announcement suggests that OM could be part of a larger multi chapter narrative rather than a standalone story.
OM was initially announced as Dhanush’s 55th film and was referred to as D55 during its early stages. The project marks the first collaboration between Dhanush and director Rajkumar Periasamy.

The film will also reunite Dhanush and Mammootty on screen. The two actors previously appeared together when Dhanush made a cameo in the 2013 Malayalam film Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath.
Dhanush was last seen in the Tamil heist action thriller Kara. His upcoming projects also include a biographical film on former President APJ Abdul Kalam and another film based on the life of legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja.
