The much awaited Shaktimaan movie directed by Basil Joseph is once again making headlines. Ever since his superhero film Minnal Murali became a huge success across India, fans have been eager to see his version of the iconic superhero. Over the years, many rumours have linked actors like Ranveer Singh and Allu Arjun to the project. Now, filmmaker Arun Anirudhan has shared new details about what is really happening behind the scenes.
Speaking on Club FM 94.3, Arun revealed that he and writer Paulson Skaria were working on the screenplay for Basil’s next directorial project, which was planned as a massive Shaktimaan film. However, the project never moved forward. Arun admitted that the situation is very complicated and even he is unsure whether the film will finally happen or not. His statement has disappointed fans who were hoping for an official announcement soon.
Rumours recently spread that Basil Joseph had pitched the Shaktimaan project to Allu Arjun after the Telugu superstar reportedly loved Minnal Murali. Arun confirmed that Allu Arjun and Basil are indeed in touch and that the actor admired Basil’s work. However, he clearly denied that the project they are discussing is Shaktimaan. According to him, the collaboration with Allu Arjun is a completely different film and more updates will be shared later.
Basil himself has also remained careful while speaking about the actor and their possible collaboration. In a recent interview with Cineulagam, he avoided giving direct answers and simply said that things are still uncertain. He explained that filmmaking is a long process and he would only speak openly when the time is right.
Meanwhile, original Shaktimaan star Mukesh Khanna had earlier shared that he believes Allu Arjun would be a strong choice for the superhero role. While he did not confirm anything officially, he praised the actor’s screen presence and felt he could suit the character well.
Last year, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap also spoke about Basil’s struggles with the project. He claimed Basil told him he spent nearly two years trying to make Shaktimaan happen in Bollywood while dealing with difficult industry politics and ego clashes. According to Anurag, the experience left Basil frustrated and exhausted.
