The makers of Korean Kanakaraju, starring Varun Tej, have released the film’s official teaser and confirmed that it will hit theatres on August 7. The teaser was unveiled by Prabhas and gives viewers their first detailed look at the film, which combines horror, comedy, supernatural elements, and Korean influences.
The teaser begins with Varun Tej introducing himself as Kanakaraju, a young man from Penugonda in Rayalaseema. As he talks about his hometown, the visuals unexpectedly shift to Korea. This surprises even the character, who questions why the visuals are not matching what he is saying. The lighthearted opening soon changes into a story filled with mystery and supernatural events.
Kanakaraju is shown as a short tempered village youth who enjoys drinking and leads a simple life. Things take a dramatic turn when a mysterious dragon shaped vase appears to possess him. After this strange incident, his eyes turn blue and he starts displaying unusual powers. The teaser also suggests that he is mysteriously transported whenever someone mentions Korea, adding another layer of mystery to the story.
The final moments of the teaser reveal a completely different version of Varun Tej. He is seen with tattoos, a missing middle finger, and a group of henchmen around him. These scenes hint at his connection with a Korean mafia. The teaser suggests that the actor will be seen in 2 very different roles or shades during the film.
Korean Kanakaraju is directed by Merlapaka Gandhi and is described as a horror comedy that brings together Indian and Korean cultures in its story. Ritika Nayak plays the female lead, while comedian Satya has an important role in the film. The music has been composed by Thaman S. The film’s first song, Kamsahamnida, has already drawn attention because of its Korean words and the vocals of Sid Sriram.
Varun Tej was last seen in Matka, which did not perform well at the box office. After Korean Kanakaraju, he is also expected to appear in Bhari, a sports drama directed by Yadhu Vamsee. The teaser has introduced the film’s unique concept while leaving several questions about the story unanswered.
