Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 SHOCK Delay Explained! New Release Date Announced After Last-Minute Chaos

Akhanda 2 gets a new release date after a sudden legal delay halted its premiere on December 5. Balakrishna’s action sequel now hits theatres on December 12.

Nandamuri Balakrishna‘s highly anticipated action drama Akhanda 2: Thaandavam faced a stunning setback when its December 5th release was postponed just hours before the first shows were supposed to begin. Citing “unavoidable circumstances,” the makers left fans frustrated and flooded social media with speculation. Now, finally, the team has confirmed a new release date, relieving and rejuvenating the excitement across the fandom.

Akhanda 2 will now hit theatres worldwide on December 12, with paid premieres on December 11, officially restarting the promotional momentum that had stalled last week. On Tuesday night, the updated announcement was made by 14 Reels Plus via their official X handle.

The makers shared a new poster of Balakrishna in his signature intense avatar, writing, “All set for the divine destruction at the box office. Feel the MASSive power of #Akhanda2 in theatres from DECEMBER 12 with grand premieres on December 11th. BOOKINGS OPEN SOON!” The post went instantly viral as fans began to celebrate the revival of one of the most awaited mass entertainers of the year.

This is because of a legal dispute between Eros International Media Limited and 14 Reels Entertainment Private Limited, the producers of the film. Sources say the dispute is over dues, estimated to be around Rs 28 crore. The Madras High Court reportedly put a stay on the film’s release following that dispute. The decision, definitely disappointing, made the makers stop the distribution and screenings of the movie despite being ready for release.

The reports from the industry state that the matter has been sorted out, and the film Akhanda 2 can now hit the screens without any hindrance. The clarification comes as a reassurance to fans who have been longing for the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda that established Balakrishna and his director Boyapati Sreenu as one of the most powerful mass-action duos in Telugu cinema.

Helmed once again by Boyapati, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam promises to raise the scale of the franchise with a bigger narrative, backed with grand action set pieces. The film also stars Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, Harshaali Malhotra, and Kabir Duhan Singh in important roles, adding more depth to its high-voltage storyline. With the legal hurdles cleared and a new date locked, Akhanda 2 is all geared up to roar at the box office-just as the fans wanted. Finally, the mass avatar of Balakrishna will unleash its power on December 12.
