No Harm, No Foul? Vijay Deverakonda Speaks Out on Tribal Remark Backlash

Actor Vijay Deverakonda came under legal woes recently after a statement made by him during the audio launch event of his film Retro in Hyderabad. A viral video of the incident created furore, and a police complaint was subsequently filed at Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar Police Station. Complainant Kishanraj Chauhan, President, Tribal Lawyers Association, Bapunagar accused the actor of insulting the tribal community. The complainant had produced video evidence, such as a clip from the YouTube channel of Maa TV Films, now widely available online.

Vijay Deverakonda Replies to Controversy

To counter the increasing criticism, Vijay made a public apology and provided clarification. He clarified that his words were never intended to hurt any community. “There was absolutely no intention to hurt or target any community, especially our Scheduled Tribes, whom I deeply respect,” he said.

The actor further contributed that his speech was all about unity and peace, describing, “I was talking about how India is one, and we have to go together forward.” Elaborating the use of the term “tribe,” he claimed it was used from a historical perspective, not as a reference to the Scheduled Tribes category.
