The return of CID in 2024 with Season 2 rekindled nostalgia for viewers of the popular crime drama that was originally telecast between 1998 and 2018. Fans were excited to welcome familiar characters such as ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam), Daya, Abhijeet, and Dr. Salunke back on screen. The plot, however, took an unexpected turn when ACP Pradyuman appeared dead in some episodes, disappointing fans.
Enter Parth Samthaan as ACP Ayushmaan, whose entry was initially met with opposition from viewers reluctant to accept a replacement for the iconic ACP Pradyuman. But in a twist, it was shown that Ayushmaan wasn’t replacing anyone he was there to facilitate ACP Pradyuman’s return. This twist altered public perception, and fans accepted Parth’s commanding screen presence and intensity in the role.

Though appreciation for his stint on CID 2 had been increasing, Parth had maintained all along that it was temporary. He has just shot his last episode, and the crew bid him adieu with a warm celebration on the set. The team of Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, and Hrishikesh Pandey accompanied Parth for a cake-cutting ceremony with a designed CID-themed cake. Farewell videos and photos quickly went viral, with fans wishing and lamenting at his departure.
