Hiten Tejwani Breaks Silence on Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2's Possible End: "It Was Always Meant to Be Limited

Speculation is rife that Smriti Irani’s television comeback, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, might be nearing its end. Ever since reports surfaced suggesting the show could go off-air, fans have been eager for clarity. Actor Hiten Tejwani, who plays Karan in the series, recently addressed the rumours in an interview with India Forums.

Hiten clarified that while he has no confirmation about the show’s conclusion, it was always intended to be a limited series. “I have no idea about what’s happening because I’m not shooting regularly. If I were on set more often, I might have more updates. When we got the call for the project, it was mentioned that this wouldn’t be an infinite series like before. It was supposed to have a limited run,” he explained. Reports suggest the show might wrap up early next year, though there has been no official announcement from the makers or the channel.

Originally aired in the early 2000s, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi became a cultural phenomenon, turning Smriti Irani’s character Tulsi into a household name. The show’s 2025 reboot has once again captured attention for its nostalgic appeal, dramatic storylines, and return of familiar faces from the original cast.

Recently, the show made headlines when Bill Gates made a surprise cameo — a moment that quickly went viral. Smriti Irani, who has been weaving socially relevant issues into the show’s narrative, used the cameo to spotlight the health of pregnant women and newborns. Calling it a “historic moment for Indian television,” Irani told CNBC-TV18, “For far too long, women’s and children’s health has remained on the margins of mainstream dialogue. This initiative marks the start of a Jan Andolan — a people’s movement of awareness and empathy.”
