Aish at Cannes 2015: Motherhood helped me do my JAZBAA role more truthfully

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was speaking to the international media on the sidelines of the 68th Cannes Film Festival while unveiling the first look of her film JAZBAA and presenting its exclusive 8-minute footage on the yacht New Jersey anchored at Cannes jetty.

In response to a question if she knew someone whose child was kidnapped she said fortunately she knew none like that and hoped it never happens to anyone. She can understand this better since she is a mother now. It’s not that she has not done roles of mature women earlier, but she is more ‘familiar and familial’ with such a role now and has been more truthful in its portrayal in JAZBAA. She plays the mother of a little girl in the film who gets kidnapped.

She also said that JAZBAA is not a violent film its helmer Sanjay Gupta is known for. It’s a breakaway film and a new challenge for him as well. That’s what really appealed to her about the script. It’s a perfectly casted film. It has world class looks and feel to it and that’s why the film’s first look is launched in Cannes.

JAZBAA is written and directed by Sanjay Gupta and produced by his production company White Feather Films, Sachin Joshi’s Vikings Media & Entertainment, and Essel Vision. The film is scheduled for release on 9th October 2015.
