Bollywood stars to jazz up 2013 Republic Day Parade

If the wish of Uday Kumar Varma the secretary Information & Broadcasting Ministry, India, is fulfilled we shall see the Bachchans, the Khans, the Kapoors and the hot item girls of the film industry performing lavani with their latkas and jhatkas on the Rajpath on 26th January, 2013.

While announcing the plans of the I&B industry to celebrate the 100th year of Indian cinema with a year long programme starting on 3rd May, 2012, and ending on 3rdMay, 2013, Mr. Varma came up with this dream suggestion during his keynote address at FICCI Frames 2012. The government would like that big names of the Indian film industry walk the Rajpath during the Republic Day parade on 26th January, 2013, alongside a special tableau depicting the birth of Indian cinema and its growth.

Dadasaheb Phalke, the pioneer and often described as the father of Indian cinema, released the first Indian film RAJA HARISHCHANDRA on 3rd May, 1913.

It was a silent film in Marathi. Since then the industry has come a long way.
