After four huge successes in a row, Deepika Padukone is understandably taking her time before saying ‘yes’ to a film. While she is sure about not making any frivolous choices, talk in the town is that the challenge ahead for her now is to maintain the position at the top. While that shouldn’t be a problem considering the fact that she is now on board of HAPPY NEW YEAR with Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan while Imtiaz Ali and Sajid Nadiadwala’s next with Ranbir Kapoor too is in her kitty, Deepika is refraining from signing films by the dozen.

“Well, my dad taught me that getting on the top is not difficult but sustaining is. His words couldn’t have been truer,” she reflects, “Look at Shahrukh Khan. He has been around for so many years. He got on the top of affairs, great, but the fact that he has been there for 20 years is remarkable. Same holds good for Salman, Akshay, Aamir, Saif; they are there because they are. They took up the challenge and lived up the expectations.”

As for her future choices, she says, “At the end of the day my choice of films has always been spontaneous. What I have picked is always from my heart. There has never been any calculated move. I have to just have faith now that people will trust me more than ever before in the roles that they offer me.”
“I am getting a little edgy though,” she admits, “From the times to COCKTAIL till now I have been so busy. These have been crazy times and I would be occupied till November when RAM LEELA will release. However, I am looking forward to what I end up picking next. I have been so used to working non-stop now that it is tough to take any breather whatsoever.”
