The roots of mastering Sanskrit dates back to the 50s when Rafi sahab was first approached by music wizard Naushad to sing the super hit bhajan Man Tadapat Bhajan…. for the movie BAIJU BAWRA.
Rafi Sahab who hailed from Punjab was in trouble as he knew only Punjabi and Urdu. But Naushad hired Sanskrit pundits from Varanasi to train Rafi sahab. It took over a month to master the diction and correct pronunciation of the Sanskrit lyrics of the Bhajan. After this Rafi Sahab even recorded many non-filmy devotional Bhajans for music companies.
