Kareena Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and more pay tribute! Bollywood stars mourn the sudden demise of Pritish Nandy

Pritish Nandy, the renowned film producer, writer, journalist, and all-around personality, passed away at 73 on Wednesday. He had a legacy that cut across fields such as journalism, cinema, and poetry. Nandy was known for his major contributions to Indian cinema and for his sharp, fearless editorial voice in the media. His death has left the industry and his colleagues in a state of great sadness.

Many Bollywood stars took to social media to pay emotional tributes to him. Kareena Kapoor, who acted in the film Chameli (2004) that was produced under Pritish Nandy Communications, recalled memories of the time she spent with Nandy on the sets of the film. Kareena posted pictures on her Instagram Stories showing her engaging with Nandy between shots. In the photos, she is seen smiling and wearing her iconic red Chameli costume. Along with these pictures, she used red heart, folded hands, and infinity emojis to express respect and love to the late producer.

Another film-maker who has paid tribute to Nandy is Chameli director Sudhir Mishra, who recalls how he was pivotal to his 2003 film Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi, which was produced by Nandy. Mishra shared on X: “Pritish Nandy changed my life. Only he could Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi. He taught me so much. I am so sorry Pritish Da. I couldn’t come up with an idea for the sequel.”

Sanjay Dutt, who had previously collaborated with Nandy on a few films that include Kaante (2002) and Shabd (2005), remembered him with the post of the black-and-white snap of Nandy on X: “A true creative genius and a kind soul, you would be missed, sir. #PritishNandy #RIP???? –

Anil Kapoor also mourned, posting the same picture of Nandy on X and writing: “Shocked and heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend Pritish Nandy. A fearless editor, a brave soul, and a man of his word, he embodied integrity like no other.”

Besides being a producer, Nandy was a renowned journalist and talk show host. He was also hosting the Pritish Nandy Show on Doordarshan in the 1990s. He has interviewed many of India’s celebrities and public figures during that period. As a film producer, he has significantly influenced the early 2000s Bollywood through Kaante, Jhankaar Beats, Chameli, and Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi. His influence was further extended to the digital world, as he is the producer of the hit web series Four More Shots Please!
