Ranveer Singh has started shooting for his upcoming film Pralay in Mumbai. The film is being directed by Jai Mehta and is set against the backdrop of a post apocalyptic world. The story follows a desperate struggle for survival as people fight to protect humanity in a world that has been changed by a major disaster.
Kalyani Priyadarshan has been cast opposite Ranveer in the film. The makers are shooting at real locations across Mumbai, which is expected to give the film a more realistic setting. Instead of relying completely on studio sets, the use of familiar city locations will help create a world that feels closer to reality while showing the impact of the disaster on ordinary life.
The film is being produced by several teams, including Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios and Ranveer Singh’s own Maa Kasam Films. The project is being planned on a large scale, with action sequences and visual effects expected to play an important role in bringing its post apocalyptic setting to the screen.
A teaser poster for Pralay has already given audiences a glimpse of Ranveer’s look. He appears in rugged clothing, surrounded by an atmosphere of destruction and chaos. The visual suggests that the actor will be seen in a physically demanding role as the story deals with survival in extreme circumstances.

Pralay is currently targeting a December 2027 theatrical release. The production also involves VFX specialists who will work on the film’s larger action scenes and the world created after the disaster.
The project comes after Ranveer’s recent success with Dhurandhar, adding another action focused film to his upcoming line up. However, Pralay appears to be different in its setting and subject as it combines survival drama with a large scale thriller story.
Amid the ongoing buzz around his professional commitments, Ranveer was also recently spotted at the airport cheering for his wife Deepika Padukone. Meanwhile, the focus has now shifted to the Mumbai schedule of Pralay as filming gets underway.
