Sophie Turner has opened up about how her time on Game of Thrones shaped both her personal and professional life even joking that the HBO fantasy series served as her “sex education.” Appearing on the Dish podcast, the 29-year-old actress quipped, “I definitely got my sex education from that show. More than enough.”
Growing Up on Set with a Star-Studded Cast
Turner, who portrayed Sansa Stark from 2011 to 2019, starred alongside big names like Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, and Gwendoline Christie. Reflecting on her early years in the industry, Sophie admitted she felt lucky to be learning on set, despite never having formal training.
“I got to learn from amazing actors around me. It felt like I won a competition,” she said. “We were all a family. My character, I got to live with. It felt like we merged into one person by the end of it.”

A Life-Shaping Experience
The Emmy-nominated actress credits Game of Thrones with shaping her career, not just in terms of acting but also in how to conduct herself in the industry. “Everything I learned was from Game of Thrones and a bit from my parents,” she said. “It informed my life in terms of business decisions, set etiquette, and how to act professionally.”
On Sansa’s Possible Return
Though Sophie has often expressed love for her character, she’s hesitant about reprising the role. Speaking to Variety in 2024, she said, “Maybe… but it would have to be the exact same cast and crew. Otherwise, it would just be season nine.” Still, she often wonders about Sansa’s fate and what her life might look like years after the series ended.
