Disclosure Day Struggles To Gain Momentum But Still Stays Ahead Of A Bollywood Rival

Emily Blunt’s "Disclosure Day" recorded Rs 22.87 lakh gross on Day 8 despite a sharp drop, while remaining ahead of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata at the box office.

Emily Blunt’s sci fi thriller “Disclosure Day” has entered an important phase of its box office run as it attempts to maintain audience interest during its second week in theatres. While the film continued to earn collections on its eighth day, it did not show the kind of growth that is usually expected at the start of a new weekend.

According to the latest box office figures, “Disclosure Day” collected Rs 22.87 lakh gross in India on Day 8, which fell on Friday, June 19. The film was screened in 228 shows across 51 cities and recorded an overall occupancy of 19 percent. No shows were reported as houseful during the day, while 20 shows were listed as fast filling.

The latest earnings represent a significant decline from Day 7, when the film had collected Rs 48.30 lakh gross. This means that the Day 8 collection was approximately 52.7 percent lower than the previous day’s earnings. Since Fridays generally benefit from the beginning of the weekend, industry observers were expecting an increase in collections. However, the film did not witness a noticeable jump.

Despite the decline, “Disclosure Day” still performed better than Kangana Ranaut’s “Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata” on the same day. The Bollywood film collected Rs 0.10 crore net on Day 8 while running across 531 shows. It also experienced a sharp drop in collections, falling 77.8 percent from its Day 7 earnings of Rs 0.45 crore net.

So far, “Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata” has collected Rs 7.89 crore gross and Rs 6.65 crore net in India. Although both films saw declines, “Disclosure Day” managed to remain ahead in terms of daily performance, indicating that it continues to attract a section of moviegoers during its second week.

At the same time, another film is delivering much stronger results at the box office. Curry Barker’s “Obsession” collected Rs 1.30 crore net on Day 22. Although that was 16.1 percent lower than its previous day’s collection of Rs 1.55 crore net, the film continues to perform steadily.

“Obsession” was running in 1,869 shows and has already earned Rs 87.05 crore gross and Rs 73.10 crore net in India. Compared to both “Disclosure Day” and “Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata”, its performance remains significantly stronger, showing sustained audience interest even after more than three weeks in theatres.
