Universal Pictures is preparing to close out one of cinema’s most magical musical stories with Wicked: For Good, releasing in theaters on November 21, 2025, and running through May 21, 2026. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film marks the second chapter in the two-part cinematic adaptation of the Broadway phenomenon Wicked, which reimagines the world of Oz through the intertwined lives of Elphaba and Glinda.
In Wicked: For Good, Cynthia Erivo reprises her role as Elphaba, now demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West. Living in exile deep within the Ozian forest, Elphaba continues her rebellion, determined to free Oz’s silenced Animals and expose the corruption at the heart of The Wizard’s rule. Jeff Goldblum stars as The Wizard, whose power and deceit continue to shape the destiny of Oz.
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande shines as Glinda, the radiant and beloved face of Goodness. From her palace in Emerald City, she revels in fame, fashion, and admiration, unaware of how her choices keep her tethered to The Wizard’s control. Under the mentorship of Madame Morrible (played by Michelle Yeoh), Glinda is tasked with reassuring the citizens of Oz that peace reigns, even as unrest brews beneath the surface.
But Glinda’s glamorous life hides deep regret. As she prepares to marry Prince Fiyero (portrayed by Jonathan Bailey) in an extravagant wedding, memories of her bond with Elphaba haunt her. Her attempts to mend their fractured friendship and broker peace between Elphaba and The Wizard only drive them further apart, leading to devastating consequences that ripple through Oz. Ethan Slater returns as Boq, while Marissa Bode joins as Nessarose, Elphaba’s sister, whose fate becomes intertwined with a mysterious girl from Kansas.
As Oz unravels in chaos and a furious mob rises against the so-called Wicked Witch, Elphaba and Glinda will face their final reckoning. Bound by an unbreakable friendship, they must confront their choices and each other to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.
Produced by Marc Platt and David Stone, with Stephen Schwartz, David Nicksay, Jared LeBoff, Winnie Holzman, and Dana Fox serving as executive producers, Wicked: For Good is shaping up to be a monumental cinematic event. Combining breathtaking visuals, powerful performances, and beloved musical moments, it promises to deliver an emotional finale to one of the most iconic stories ever told.
The film is yet to be released, but expectations are sky-high. With Chu’s visionary direction and a stellar cast led by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, Wicked: For Good is poised to be a dazzling, heartfelt, and unforgettable conclusion to the story that redefined the Land of Oz.
