Justin Baldoni Loses $400 Million Lawsuit After Missing Court Deadline

Justin Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively was dismissed after he missed a key filing deadline, marking another dramatic turn in their ongoing legal feud.

Justin Baldoni has officially lost his massive $400 million lawsuit after missing a crucial court deadline. The case, which involved allegations of defamation and civil extortion against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and others connected to It Ends With Us, was dismissed by a federal judge after Baldoni failed to file an amended complaint on time.

The lawsuit was one of the most high-profile entertainment legal battles of the year. Baldoni, who directed It Ends With Us and co-starred alongside Lively, accused her and several others of damaging his reputation through alleged false claims and leaked statements to the press. However, the court ruled earlier in June 2025 that many of the statements Lively made were legally protected under litigation and reporting privileges.

Judge Lewis J. Liman, who presided over the case, had given Baldoni and his team a chance to amend their complaint after certain claims were dismissed. When they missed the filing deadline, the court issued a final judgment on October 31, effectively closing the case.

Lively’s legal team called the outcome a “total victory,” emphasizing that the claims had no legal merit to begin with. “This case was never about the truth, it was about intimidation,” one source close to the case said.

While Baldoni’s countersuit has now been dismissed, Lively’s original lawsuit against him, involving allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation, is still ongoing and scheduled to go to trial in March 2026.

This marks a major setback for Baldoni, both financially and reputationally. Missing the court deadline proved to be the final blow in a legal battle that once carried a $400 million price tag.
