The Underdog’s Impossible Dream: Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme Trailer Drops

Timothée Chalamet Paddles His Way to Stardom in Marty Supreme Trailer

The trailer for Josh Safdie’s upcoming sports-comedy drama Marty Supreme has finally dropped, offering an exciting glimpse into the eccentric world of 1950s ping pong culture. The film stars Timothée Chalamet in the titular role, with Gwyneth Paltrow as his love interest, and boasts a dynamic ensemble including Tyler, The Creator (Tyler Okonma), Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.

Set to Tears for Fears’ hit “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” the trailer opens with a striking hotel room scene featuring Paltrow’s character, Kay Stone, a glamorous movie star who questions Marty about how he supports himself while chasing his dreams of athletic glory. “I live with the confidence that if I believe in myself, the money’ll follow,” he says, to which she challenges, “And if it doesn’t?” Marty confidently replies, “That doesn’t even enter my consciousness.”

The trailer expands upon themes hinted at in the first teaser, highlighting Marty’s obsession with greatness and his descent into risky ventures — including sports gambling and amateur tournaments where his raw talent wins him both money and notoriety. Scenes of police chases, fiery explosions, and chaotic ping pong matches underscore Safdie’s signature blend of high-energy storytelling and dark humor.

Marty Supreme follows Marty Mauser, a gifted but troubled ping pong prodigy who becomes a local legend through his unconventional and sometimes reckless approach to success. While fictional, the story draws inspiration from real-life table tennis icon Marty Reisman, known for his wit, charisma, and rebellious flair.

With Chalamet leading the cast and Safdie at the helm, Marty Supreme promises to deliver a stylish, fast-paced character study infused with nostalgia, ambition, and chaos. The film is slated for a Christmas Day release — December 25, 2025.
