Ryan Gosling is gearing up for a return to the big screen with Project Hail Mary, a gripping new space-adventure film whose latest trailer is packed with tension, intrigue and high-stakes drama. Adapted from Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, the movie follows the story of Ryland Grace, a humble schoolteacher who awakens alone aboard a spacecraft with no memory of his identity or how he ended up light-years from Earth.
As the trailer unfolds, Grace gradually discovers that he has been sent on a desperate mission to save humanity. The sun is losing its power due to a mysterious cosmic phenomenon, and Grace may be the only person capable of stopping it. Directed by the acclaimed duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film has been confirmed for an India release on March 20, 2026. Weir, who also wrote The Martian, brings a similar blend of science-driven storytelling and human resilience to this narrative. Much like Matt Damon’s Mark Watney, Gosling’s character must rely on intelligence, calm problem-solving, and his knowledge of biology to survive. Instead of explosions and combat, the movie leans into scientific curiosity, humour and emotional depth.
Indian audiences will be able to watch Project Hail Mary in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, including premium formats such as IMAX.
The official synopsis describes Grace awakening with no recollection of who he is, only to slowly regain memories that reveal the enormous responsibility placed upon him: deciphering a strange substance that is causing the sun to fade. His mission could determine Earth’s survival — and an unexpected extraterrestrial friendship might just become his lifeline.
