After revisiting the bowling alley where he filmed his iconic 2010 music video Baby, Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber hit fans with a wave of nostalgia. Bieber revisited the original location fifteen years after his song became a phenomenon and shared the moments through an Instagram reel that sent the internet into a frenzy instantly.
Wearing an oversized grey T-shirt, baggy jewelled shorts, a silver chain, and a beanie, Bieber kept his signature laid-back style alive. In the clip, Bieber is seen singing the unforgettable “Baby, baby, baby ohh!” chorus while his friend beatboxes in the background, as if recreating the charm of the original track. Another clip captures him strolling around the bowling alley with his group of friends, which includes Eddie Benjamin, Oranj Goodman, Gabriel Jacoby, and Kyle Massey-who he tagged in the post.
The music video for Baby, which was filmed at Universal CityWalk and Lucky Strike Lanes in Los Angeles, was an important release during Bieber’s early career. Issued when he was just a 15-year-old, the single served as the lead cut for his debut album My World 2.0 and launched him worldwide. The song hit number one across the globe and is considered one of the singles that defined the pop decade of the 2010s.
It also helped Bieber, at the time, gain his maiden No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 and spawn a cultural phenomenon. As it stands now, even the song’s music video has been watched over 3.4 billion times on YouTube and commented on by nearly 50 lakh viewers, making this song an ageless darling for millions.
Social media instantly flooded with a load of emotional reactions from fans after Bieber’s nostalgic trip. While many said the reel brought back memories from their teenage years, other people begged the singer to remake it. One fan asked, “Can we have an adult Justin remake of this album, please?” Another suggested recording an acoustic version in the same location-which will “break the internet”.
YouTube was not exempt from the move either, with Beliebers returning to the original Baby video after going through Bieber’s latest post. Comments such as “Anyone here after JB’s latest IG post?” popped up everywhere on the platform, proof of the song’s eternal love. To long-time Beliebers, Bieber’s throwback visit wasn’t just a throwback-but it reminded fans of the era that catapulted him to become a globally recognized superstar.
