Toxic Release Deferred; Will Dhurandhar: The Revenge Also Shift Its Date?

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups starring Yash postpones its March 19 release to June 4, 2026 citing global uncertainty. What happens to Dhurandhar: The Revenge?

In a development that could potentially reshape the early summer box office calendar, the makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, starring Yash, have officially postponed the film’s theatrical release. The film, which was earlier slated to arrive in cinemas on March 19, will now release worldwide on June 4, 2026.

The announcement was made through the film’s official social media handles, where the makers cited current geopolitical uncertainty, particularly in the Middle East, as the key factor behind the decision.

In their statement, the team said the film was conceived with a global theatrical vision and filmed in Kannada and English to reach audiences both in India and internationally.

“Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is a film we conceptualized with the vision to create cinema for a global audience. Filmed in Kannada and English, it is built with the conviction to connect with viewers both at home and across the world.”

The note further explained that although the makers were prepared to bring the film to theatres on March 19 after years of work, the current uncertainty affecting parts of the international market has compelled them to reconsider the release timing.

“After years of dedicated labour, we were excited to share our film with you all on the 19th of March. However, the current uncertainty, especially in the Middle East, has created a situation that impacts our goal to reach and connect with the widest possible audience. We have made the difficult but carefully considered decision to reschedule our release.”

The film will now hit cinemas globally on June 4, 2026, in English as well as multiple Indian languages.

The postponement of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups could have wider implications for the trade, particularly because another highly anticipated title — Dhurandhar: The Revenge — was also scheduled to release on March 19.

With Toxic stepping away from the date, industry observers are now watching closely to see whether the makers of Dhurandhar: The Revenge will retain the solo window or reconsider their strategy.

From a trade standpoint, the original clash between the two big-ticket titles had already generated significant buzz. A solo release could potentially expand screen availability, marketing visibility, and opening weekend collections for Dhurandhar. However, producers sometimes reassess release strategies when a competing film exits the date, particularly if the shift alters overall market momentum.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups has been positioned as a large-scale international project headlined by Yash following the massive success of K.G.F: Chapter 2.

The film’s dual-language production and global release strategy signal the makers’ intention to tap international theatrical markets alongside the domestic box office, making the timing of its release particularly significant.

With the new June 4 global release date, the industry will now watch how the revised schedule reshapes the upcoming box office landscape — and whether Dhurandhar: The Revenge chooses to hold its ground on March 19 or follow a similar path.
