Dhanush Returns With Intense Role In Kara Trailer

Kara trailer shows Dhanush as a robber during the Gulf War. The film focuses on survival, crime, and a tense chase ahead of its April 30 release.

The trailer of Kara, starring Dhanush in the lead role, has been released and gives an early look at an action drama set during a difficult time in history. The film is directed by Vignesh Raja, marking his second film after Por Thozhil (2023).

The story is set during the 1991 Gulf War, a period marked by major global changes. The trailer opens with news about oil wells in Kuwait being set on fire by Iraq, which led to a serious fuel shortage and affected the global economy. This situation plays an important role in the film’s story.

Dhanush plays the character Karasaami, also known as Kara. He is shown as a former robber who is forced to return to crime due to difficult circumstances. His main aim is to protect his family as he struggles to survive. The trailer highlights his involvement in a series of bank robberies.

At the same time, a police officer played by Suraj Venjaramoodu is shown trying to track him down. This creates a tense situation, with a chase between the two characters forming a key part of the story. The trailer also shows that people around Kara doubt whether he has truly changed, adding another layer of conflict.

The film features a supporting cast that includes Mamitha Baiju as Selli, Jayaram as Muthu Selvan, K. S. Ravikumar as Kandhasaami, Karunaas as Kasi Maayan, Sreeja Ravi as Dhanam, and Prithvi Pandiarajan as Murugesan.

The music for the film is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, continuing his work with Dhanush after Idli Kadai (2025). The film is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner, with Kushmita Ganesh as co producer.

Kara has been given a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification, which means it is suitable for a wide audience with parental guidance. The makers have confirmed that the film is ready for release.

The film is scheduled to release in theatres on April 30, 2026.
