The makers of Mahavatar Parshuram have officially announced the film as part of their ongoing mythology based series. This film is the second project in the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, which began with Mahavatar Narsimha. The announcement was made by Hombale Films on the occasion of Parshuram Jayanti.
Along with the announcement, the makers also released a title reveal motion poster and a first look image. The poster shows a warrior standing on a battlefield filled with signs of destruction, holding a blood stained axe. This visual suggests that the film will focus on action and conflict. The motion poster also shows a similar setting, where the character is seen standing firmly and reacting strongly in the middle of a battlefield.
The makers shared the announcement with the caption, “When Dharma falls, the Parshu rises. Presenting the next from the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe #MahavatarParshuraam Coming December 2027. Not a ruler, but a force against adharma, restoring balance across ages. Wishing you a blessed #ParshuramJayanti,”
The motion poster includes the lines, “When Dharma falls, Earth bleeds. The Avatar rises. He cleansed the Earth with blood. 21 times. The will of MahaVishnu, The wrath of Mahadev. Mahavatar Parshuram.”
The film is directed by Ashwin Kumar and is scheduled to release in theatres in December 2027. It is part of a larger plan by Hombale Films, along with Kleem Productions, to create a series of animated films based on the ten avatars of Vishnu.
The Mahavatar Cinematic Universe is planned as a seven film series. After Mahavatar Parshuram, the next films in the lineup include Mahavatar Raghunandan in 2029, Mahavatar Dhawkadhesh in 2031, Mahavatar Gokulananda in 2033, Mahavatar Kalki Part 1 in 2035, and Mahavatar Kalki Part 2 in 2037.
The project aims to present stories from mythology through animation, focusing on different avatars across different timelines.
