Chitrangada Singh recently spoke about filmmaker Aditya Dhar and revealed that the two had once planned to work together on a film that never got made. The actress shared the details while speaking to Variety India and also praised Dhar for his recent success with Dhurandhar.
Talking about the filmmaker, Chitrangada Singh said, “Who doesn’t want to work with him? I’d love to, obviously, because he’s brilliant and has changed the whole system. How many people are going to go back, rewrite and introspect? Just to see that kind of passion in filmmaking is so inspiring.”
The actress then revealed that she was once attached to a film called Sufi, which Aditya Dhar had written around 2012. According to her, the project was close to being announced, but it eventually did not move forward.
Sharing details about the unfinished project, Chitrangada Singh said, “I was going to do a film with Aditya Dhar, called ‘Sufi’. Around 2012, he and I were constantly in touch and trying very hard to get this film made. And there was a lot of back and forth. He’d written this amazing character for me. It was almost getting done, and we were going to announce the film. But it didn’t happen.”
The actress also recalled reconnecting with Aditya Dhar recently after watching Dhurandhar. She explained how their old conversations reminded her of the hard work they had once put into Sufi. Speaking about it, she said, “So recently, when I messaged him [about Dhurandhar], I didn’t know whether he’d even be on the same number. And then I realized, [with] the whole chat and everything, ‘Oh my God, we really worked hard on that one!’”
Chitrangada Singh also praised Dhurandhar and appreciated the performances in the film. She especially mentioned Sara Arjun and said, “I can’t speak of anything else right now. I think Dhurandhar was fantastic. I think Sara Arjun has done an amazing job in it. She was brilliant in those scenes.”
On the work front, Chitrangada Singh is preparing for the release of Maatrubhumi, which stars Salman Khan in the lead role. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by real events related to the Galwan Valley clash and is produced under the banner of Salman Khan Films.
