If you thought talking cats, telepathy, and Danish hitmen had nothing in common, The Wrong Girls is here to prove otherwise. The first look at the upcoming comedy has been shared exclusively by Entertainment Weekly, giving fans a taste of the wonderfully chaotic world created by writer and director Dylan Meyer. The film stars Kristen Stewart as Frankie and Alia Shawkat as Molly, two best friends who are perfectly happy drifting through life in a haze of weed smoke.
That easygoing routine comes crashing down when Frankie is mistakenly handed a briefcase filled with glowing vials of an experimental psychedelic drug. One bad decision later, the pair find themselves with telepathic powers, including the ability to communicate with each other and even their cats.
As if that wasn’t strange enough, the stolen drugs also put them in the crosshairs of a group of sharply dressed Danish villains who are desperate to get their hands on the missing briefcase. Suddenly, Frankie and Molly are dodging danger while trying to make sense of their bizarre new reality.
Meyer told Entertainment Weekly that the story grew out of her friendship with producing partner Maggie McLean. She described the film as a love letter to messy, chaotic women and the friendships that keep them going. While the movie is packed with giant squids, talking cats, supernatural twists, and absurd comedy, she says its emotional core comes from real life.

Stewart has already summed up the film in her own unmistakable style, calling it “really f—ing stupid,” which, judging by everything revealed so far, sounds like exactly the point.
The supporting cast is just as eye-catching. LaKeith Stanfield plays the mysterious man who unknowingly kicks off the entire adventure by delivering the briefcase. Zack Fox appears as Molly’s boyfriend Josh, while Tony Hale plays an overconfident real estate developer. Kate McKinnon stars as the scientist responsible for creating the experimental drug, with Geena Davis playing her longtime partner. Adding another layer of madness, Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani voice Frankie and Molly’s judgmental talking cats.
With its offbeat humor, wild premise, and cast packed with fan favorites, The Wrong Girls looks like the kind of comedy that fully embraces the ridiculous. If the first look is anything to go by, audiences should expect a film that is equal parts bizarre, funny, and completely unpredictable.
