Prateik Smita Patil has once again become the centre of discussion because of his strained relationship with father Raj Babbar and the Babbar family. The situation reportedly became more tense after Prateik did not invite Raj Babbar and his first family to his wedding with Priya Banerjee. His decision to change his surname from Babbar to Smita Patil also attracted public attention.
Now, Aarya Babbar has spoken openly about the issue in a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani. Aarya shared that he and his family were confused when Prateik slowly stopped communicating with them after resolving issues related to his divorce from his former wife.
Speaking about the matter, Aarya said, “We nurture some relationships with a lot of love because they are too delicate, so you care for them a lot… We didn’t understand when he suddenly stopped connecting with us as soon as his divorce from his ex-wife was sorted. I texted him, called him so many times, but no response.”
Aarya also questioned why Raj Babbar’s family is often portrayed negatively while Prateik still continues to benefit from his father’s support. He said, “It’s like when your career is not doing well, and you need pocket money from dad to survive, then he is your father. When you want to live in the house that your father bought for Smita maa, then he is your father.”
He further added, “When you want all the benefits, then he is your father. But when you have to acknowledge him and give him respect in front of society, then he is not your father. What is that? As an elder brother, I love him, but when he is wrong, he is wrong, and this is where he is wrong.”
Aarya also called the situation emotionally painful for the family. He said, “It is so tragic that the Smita maa, for whom my father left his family, today that Smita maa’s son is not ready to acknowledge him as his father. What could be a bigger tragedy than that?”
For those unaware, Raj Babbar married Nadira Babbar in 1975, and they have two children, Aarya Babbar and Juhi Babbar. Later, Raj Babbar married Smita Patil in 1983. Prateik was born in 1986, but Smita Patil passed away due to childbirth complications soon after his birth.
