Main Vaapas Aaunga Shows Strong Growth But Faces A Major Challenge

Main Vaapas Aaunga earned Rs. 10.25 crore in 6 days, showing steady growth at the box office despite starting with modest collections.

Main Vaapas Aaunga has shown encouraging growth at the box office during its first week, despite beginning its theatrical run with relatively low collections. The film collected approximately Rs. 1.80 crore nett on Wednesday, its sixth day in theatres. This figure is more than 50 per cent higher than its opening day collection of Rs. 1.15 crore nett, indicating a positive trend in audience turnout.

With six days completed, the Imtiaz Ali directorial has reached a total of approximately Rs. 10.25 crore nett at the Indian box office. Based on current estimates, the film is expected to finish its first week with collections of around Rs. 12 crore nett.

Although the upward trend is a positive sign, the film still faces a major challenge. The overall collection level remains relatively low, making it difficult for the movie to achieve a significant box office turnaround. While audience interest appears to be improving, the film needs much stronger numbers in the coming days to improve its overall performance.

The movie has performed best in East Punjab and the Delhi NCR region. Industry observers attribute this to the popularity of Diljit Dosanjh and the film’s Partition era backdrop, which may have connected more strongly with audiences in these areas. Even in these regions, however, the performance has been described as average, although some multiplexes have reported stronger collections.

For the film to significantly improve its position, it would need to continue its upward momentum through the upcoming weekend. A substantial increase in collections, particularly on Sunday, would be necessary to change its box office outlook. However, this may prove difficult due to increasing competition.

The film is expected to face competition from Cocktail 2, which targets a similar audience demographic. Additional new releases in the following weeks could also affect its ability to maintain growth.

Director Imtiaz Ali has built a loyal audience over the years, and his films are often supported by popular music albums. While some of his recent releases have struggled to sustain momentum after release, Main Vaapas Aaunga is showing stronger day to day growth. However, industry analysts note that the film’s modest opening may continue to limit its overall box office potential.

The day wise collections so far stand at Rs. 1.15 crore on Friday, Rs. 1.85 crore on Saturday, Rs. 2.60 crore on Sunday, Rs. 1.20 crore on Monday, Rs. 1.65 crore on Tuesday, and Rs. 1.80 crore on Wednesday, taking the total to Rs. 10.25 crore nett.
