Lock Upp 2: Ram Kapoor’s Video Sparks Debate After He Kisses Laila

A viral Lock Upp 2 video featuring Ram Kapoor and Varun Yadav has sparked online debate, with many social media users raising concerns over consent.

A video from the latest episode of Lock Upp 2, hosted by Riteish Deshmukh, has gone viral on social media and triggered widespread discussion. The clip features actor Ram Kapoor and fellow contestant Varun Yadav, also known as Laila, during a conversation with other contestants inside the house.

In the video, Ram Kapoor is seen sitting next to Varun Yadav with his arm around him while the contestants are talking. During the interaction, Ram kisses Varun on the cheek several times. He is later seen hugging Varun and kissing him again before the two begin joking with each other. The moment appeared to surprise some of the contestants sitting nearby, including Akanksha Chamola.

Reacting to the incident, Varun joked, “Dekha ye banda 40 saal ke baad bhi cheat karta hai, kiss karta hai.” The clip was later shared widely on social media, where it received mixed reactions from viewers.

Many social media users criticised the moment, with some raising concerns about consent. One user wrote, “Shame on him for misusing his position and age; no right to kiss without clear consent. Unacceptable behavior. Consent matters regardless of the show’s drama.” Another user described Ram Kapoor’s actions as “disgusting.” At the time of writing, there has been no public response from Ram Kapoor regarding the online criticism.

In an earlier episode of the show, Ram Kapoor also spoke about his views on long term relationships and marriage during a conversation with Shreya Kalra. When asked how he would react if his partner cheated on him and whether he would move on, Ram said he believes that strong relationships can survive difficult phases.

He said, “No, you find the connection again. I’ll tell you something. If you really love your partner, nothing is a deal breaker. Marriage is hard, and it’s a journey. You have to work at your marriage every day.”

Explaining his point further, Ram added, “Sometimes during 20-25 years of marriage, what happens is you have highs and lows, good periods and bad periods. Bad phase mein agar galti se kisi ek se kuch hojaaye, agar aap unke bagair nahi jee sakte aur aapne bacchon ke bagair nahi jee sakte (If, during a bad phase, one of you ends up making a mistake, and you realise you can’t live without your partner or your children), then time heals everything, and nothing is a dealbreaker. Sometimes it happens by mistake.”

The viral clip has continued to generate discussion online, with viewers expressing different opinions about the incident and the importance of consent during interactions, even in the setting of a reality show.
