Akshay Kumar’s Welcome To The Jungle continued its steady run at the Indian box office by earning an estimated Rs. 9 crore on its first Tuesday. The film recorded a 10 per cent increase compared to its Monday collections, taking its total earnings to Rs. 81 crore nett in India after 5 days, including paid previews.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, the comedy film had a strong opening weekend, and its weekday performance has remained stable. The increase in collections on Tuesday is seen as a positive sign, especially since many films usually witness a drop after the weekend. Based on its current performance, the film is expected to end its first week with around Rs. 95 crore nett at the Indian box office.
The film has performed particularly well in Delhi NCR, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. However, reports suggest that it has not received its usual number of shows in Delhi NCR because other films already running in theatres continue to attract audiences. Even with this challenge, the film has managed to maintain good collections during the weekdays.
Looking ahead, Welcome To The Jungle is expected to face competition from Alpha, which is releasing next week. However, industry observers believe the bigger challenge may come during the film’s third week when Dhamaal 4, another comedy franchise, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas. Since both films target a similar audience, the third week’s performance could play an important role in determining the long term success of Welcome To The Jungle.
For comparison, Bhooth Bangla added Rs. 49 crore nett after its second week. If Welcome To The Jungle achieves a similar performance, it could strengthen its position at the box office.
The film’s day wise India nett collections are as follows. Paid previews earned Rs. 3.75 crore, followed by Rs. 15.25 crore on Friday, Rs. 20.50 crore on Saturday, Rs. 24.25 crore on Sunday, Rs. 8.25 crore on Monday and an estimated Rs. 9.00 crore on Tuesday. This brings the film’s total collection to Rs. 81.00 crore nett in India after 5 days. The coming weeks will determine how well the film maintains its momentum at the box office.
